Daniel Day-Lewis 在片中有著冷酷無情的形象，兇狠的外表和凶暴的行徑不經讓我想起他另一部很血腥暴力的作品 紐約黑幫（Gangs of New York, 2002），在該片中他是 Leonardo DiCaprio 的勁敵，很多械鬥的場面都很血腥。

印象深刻的場景
最後一章在Plainview自家保齡球道和Eli說話，他說到：「I'd like you to tell me that you are a false prophet... I'd like you to tell me that you are, and have been, a false prophet... and that God is a superstition.」並以球瓶打死他那幕。感覺是報復、是諷刺，也是Plainview的暴行展現。
